Empire Math was founded on a commitment to equity in education. Every student deserves the opportunity to succeed and to have meaningful options for the future through access to high-quality instruction. Our mission is to help close achievement gaps by providing affordable, expert tutoring that keeps students on track, builds confidence, and supports long-term academic success.
We focus on the critical transitional years from middle to early high school, where strong foundational skills can make or break a student’s math experience. By removing the middleman and connecting parents directly with tutors, Empire Math keeps services accessible while delivering personalized instruction, small-group or one-on-one sessions, and data-driven progress reports. Students strengthen gaps, build confidence, and succeed in their coursework, setting them up for lasting success in high school math.
Meet Miller:
With a decade of experience teaching students across New York, our Founder and Primary Tutor, Miller, is a tenured educator holding a New York State grade 5–9 Professional Teaching Certificate. Miller has worked in general education, ICT settings, dual-language programs, and with students with diverse learning needs, developing expertise across all math topics within their certification range.
Miller always leads with patience, kindness, and high expectations, grounded in the belief that all students can be successful with math. They have also specialized in integrating educational technology into both virtual and in-person instruction to enhance engagement and learning. Their excellence in teaching is reflected in a Teacher Practice score of 3.95/4 from the New York City Department of Education.
